About Us

Sri Harihara Sudha Seva Samithi is a non-political charitable trust founded to serve deprived, needy and helpless people without limiting its service to any particular community.

Sri Harihara Sudha Seva Samithi was founded on 17th November 1990 to promote the cause and welfare of deprived classes of society. The Trust was originally formed for activities such as donating to other charitable institutions, helping poor and needy people and supporting temples. With the divine power and the ardent support of the philanthropic public, the Ashram aims to render good and sincere service to needy and helpless people in society.

Premapuri Ashram inauguration, 2004

In early 1996, after seeing the plight of destitute senior citizens, the trustees decided to launch β€œSATHYA SUDHAN”. On 1st November 1996, the Ashram for the aged was inaugurated by Judge Sri. Karpaga Vinayakam, Dr. Sundara Rajan and Sri. Ranga Rao IAS. The current website also records that the candidate who completed B.S.M.S. is now working as a doctor in Herbo Care Hospital.

The Ashram was established to help destitute senior citizens and gives them full support and personal care throughout their lifetime. Elderly destitute inmates reside in the Ashram and their needs are attended to until their last days. Medical services are provided, including admission to well-equipped hospitals when necessary.

The Trust also performs the last rites of inmates when required. As per the 2026 presentation, the Trust records 57 departed inmates, with the last rites undertaken by the Trust as part of its lifetime care and service. After the demise of inmates, their eyes were donated to Shankar Nethralaya, Dr. Agarwal Eye Hospital and Rajan Eye Care Hospital. The Trust undertakes these services wholeheartedly without expecting anything in return.

In March 2004, the second unit was inaugurated by Swami Virupakshanandhaji Maharaj of Sri Ramakrishna Mutt, Chengalpet. From 2004 onward, Ashram services have also been carried out at the Trust's own premises, PREMAPURI SPIRITUAL SERVICE CENTRE AND ASHRAM FOR THE AGED, No.1, Thendral Nagar East Main Road, Thirumullaivoyal, Chennai – 600062.
